Postdoctoral Affiliate Program

The Harvard Pop Center’s Postdoctoral Affiliate Program provides a cohort-based experience to supplement the training of postdoctoral fellows working in the population sciences around the University. It is designed to promote mutually beneficial relationships among scholars pursuing research that aligns with the Pop Center’s mission.

Join a dynamic community of interdisciplinary scientists dedicated to understanding and improving population well-being around the world.
Participate in faculty-led monthly meetings to discuss salient issues around professional development; technology, methods, & research; job market navigation; and research translation, amongst other topics.
Present and discuss works-in-progress, practice presentations, and job talks.
Meet with visiting scientists and seminar speakers.
Take part in Pop Center-wide community and networking events.
Benefit from the promotion of publications and news coverage.
Access part-time workspace (depending on availability).
Apply for small research/travel award.

Eligibility

Candidates must be current or incoming paid postdoctoral research fellows at Harvard with a start date no later than 9/1/26 and at least one year left in their appointment.
Applicants should have approval to join the program from their primary mentor/supervisor.
Applicants agree to participate in person at all monthly meetings throughout AY 2026–27 (60 mins, once a month). Attendance at the weekly Social Demography Seminar series and other special events is highly encouraged.

The affiliation is for one year, with possibility of renewal.

If demand outweighs the number of slots available, candidates whose mentors are Pop Center faculty members will be given priority.

Applicants must complete this online questionnaire and submit a CV. Application deadline for 2026 is July 31, 2026. An email from the applicant’s primary faculty mentor approving participation in the program should be sent to Laura Price, Pop Center Deputy Director, at lprice@hsph.harvard.edu.
