New book challenges commonly held belief that two-parent households are a panacea for equalizing racial disparities

Harvard Pop Center faculty member and former postdoctoral fellow Christina Cross, PhD, discusses the findings of her book titled “Inherited Inequality: Why Opportunity Gaps Persist between Black and White Youth Raised in Two-Parent Families in her first television interview on PBS. We will be hosting a book launch event here at the Harvard Pop Center on Thursday, October 23 from 4:00–5:00 p.m. that will feature a conversation Lawrence Bobo, W. E. B. Du Bois Professor of the Social Sciences, Harvard University, and Christina Cross, associate professor of sociology at Harvard University, followed by a reception.
