Magda Maaoui is an assistant professor of urban planning at the Harvard Graduate School of Design and an affiliated researcher with the Healthy Places Design Lab, Bloomberg Center for Cities, and Salata Institute. Her work follows the housing production cycle from regulation and policy to design, construction, and associated neighborhood public and environmental health outcomes, with comparative research across the Global North and South. Trained at Columbia University (PhD) and the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon in France, she bridges research and practice through community-engaged planning to address both the global housing crisis and the health infrastructure crisis. Her scholarship has informed housing governance reforms in France and the United States and appears widely in academic and public media outlets.
