Akilah Patterson earned her PhD in public health from the University of Michigan and an MPH from Emory University. Drawing from public health, psychology, and education, her research examines structural determinants and population-level disparities in mental health among adolescents in the U.S. As a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Epidemiology at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, she applies longitudinal methods to examine how structural and policy contexts shape developmental trajectories from childhood into adolescence.
