Study using defunded PRAMS data points to growing inequities in birth outcomes
HCPDS Director Rita Hamad, MD, PhD, SPHERE Center Postdoctoral Fellow Emily Dore, PhD, MPH, MSW, and Senior Statistical Analyst Daniel Collin, MPH, along with their colleague Megan Reynolds, PhD, are authors on a research letter published in JAMA Pediatrics that examined longitudinal trends in birth outcomes by poverty status using data from the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS)—currently no longer funded and staffed by the federal government—finding disparities—and in some cases, growing inequalities—in birth outcomes.
