Darina is a research scientist whose work has focused on investigating the relationship between various risk factors and dementia outcomes, as well as cross-cultural differences in diagnostic measures of dementia. She is the project director of the HAALSA and HAALSA-HCAP studies, overseeing all aspects of these studies, including data collection, management and analysis. She also leads the design and interpretation of cognitive outcomes and dementia detection protocols across the HAALSA research program. Through her work, Darina endeavors to better understand cognitive trajectories in older individuals from diverse cultural, educational, and linguistic backgrounds.

Darina holds a PhD in public health from Imperial College London, and an MPH with a concentration in epidemiology and biostatistics from the American University of Beirut. Prior to joining HCPDS she led various observational, longitudinal, and trial studies on dementia including biomarker-enriched studies at Imperial College London’s Neuroepidemiology and Ageing unit.
