2023–2025 Cohort
HCPDS

Erika Meza earned a PhD in epidemiology and translational science from the University of California, San Francisco, and an MPH in environmental health sciences at Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University. Meza’s work explores intergenerational education, cognitive function and decline, and risk of dementia for US Latinos. Her interest in socioeconomic, racial, and ethnic health inequities has been a consistent theme throughout her research. As a Bell Fellow, she focused on developing new methods in mediation analysis, strengthened her understanding of social theories on transgenerational social mobility, and expanded her previous research to other population subgroups and geographical contexts. (Erika currently is an assistant professor at California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo.)
